How to remove password from password protected PDF documents without using any tools or websites!
In our day to day activities, we usually come across PDF documents which are password protected. Initially its OK to enter password and open the PDF. But what if we need to open that file maybe after a year or so, at that point of time, its difficult to remember the password for every such PDF file.
I usually remove the password from PDF file and then save it in my drive, so that later I need not to remember passwords for such PDFs.
But how can we remove the password without using Acrobat Professional or some websites available on internet which removes the password? I have found out a trick of my own, thanks to Google Chrome as it provides this functionality.
Here are the steps to remove password from PDF files using Google Chrome (which I am sure must be installed on your PC). I am using the example of Bank Statement which came on my email. Generally banking documents are password protected, so it will make a good example.
- Right click on the PDF file and open the file through “Open with” option which appears in the context menu. Select “Google Chrome” from the list.
2. Now enter the password for this PDF file for the first and actually for the last time, after this, you need not to enter the password again if you follow the subsequent steps.
3. Once you enter the password, the PDF file will now open in the Google Chrome web browser. There you will see the “Print” icon on the top right section.
4. Click on that option (Print icon), not to print the document, but to save the document in PDF. You will see a screen like this. Click on “Save” button then.
5. If you want, you may replace the existing PDF document, which had password, with this one. That way, your PDF document will be free from password. (This step is optional, you may save it at a different location or with a new name).
Now your PDF document is free from password
